St James Village Hall, Gateshead

C767-st-James-01C767-st-James-04A major extension and refurbishment of a community building to provide a place of worship and community activities for the Salvation Army

This contract was won under competitive tender. The project involved the complete refurbishment of an existing community building and the construction of a large new extension to accommodate meeting room and place of worship.

The Objective

C767-st-James-02C767-st-James-03One of the Salvation Army’s first locations was in Gateshead and so providing new facilities for worship and community development in the Wrekenton area of Gateshead was a major undertaking for the organisation. A large single storey extension was required with sufficient internal space to provide an inspiring area for worship and also to enable meetings and other uses by the neighbouring community. In addition, the existing building required complete refurbishment, including new kitchen facilities, window and door replacement, all services renewed and associated external works.

The completed project has attracted much positive comment from our client ‐ Salvation Army and also people living in the area and making use of these wonderful local facilities.
